SPRING

so hey guys if you haven't noticed, the month has ticked over september-way
and it is now SPRING which is a most delightful season filled with tweeting blue birds (TWITTER?), glorious filtered sunshine and beautiful blossoms.
(or something like this)
i'm sure you may have perused various forms of literature celebrating the oncoming of such darling weather, but this shall not stop me creating a tribute to the beginning of this season.
today in melbourne was so beautiful. there was blue sky and warm-but-not-hot/sweat, and there were sandals and eager kids bathing in some resplendent glow on the grass patches. sometimes, we are reptiles: too keen to soak up rays of heat and absorb into our cold and winter-hardened skin.
and it is around this time that i consider getting a leg wax (bc hairy bc winter), and revel in the absolute joy of icypoles. some people may consider icypoles to be childish/not suited to all occasions, but they are too wrong. icypoles are GREAT AND GROUSE. and you should indulge in them because they are delicious and icy and juicy and thirst-quenching and containing of fruit (extract) and might make your face sticky and liable to childhood reminisce. OH YEAH I LOVE THEM
today i saw a lady with some sort of stuffed bird/fake bird/not sure hair clip/hair piece/attachment in her hair and it was SO SPRING RIGHT NOW!!! but my phone was dead so i could not instagram this most marvellous piece of hair-stylin'

dr seuss, oh say can you see?

5 things in eyeshot that I like

Mascara. I really like mascara. It makes me feel feminine and able-to-bat-my-eyelids like some femme fatale and makes me feel lithe and far more glamorous than I may be.

My diary. I didn't use a diary last year; it was a sad time. At school my diary was my sole reason for existence (you know). Now, my diary elicits feelings of joy and worth ("omg your diary is sa cool!") and makes me feel organised and social and old.

My sheep mug. I have a vast collection of mugs (I will be a mug lady when I retire, you wait), but I do like this one, and it is on my desk with cold coffee. There are happy sheep on it, as well as 'sheep' typography and it fits in the coffee machine, thus it is constantly associated with sheep and coffee, both of which are great things.

Lampshade. My lampshade was picked off the side of the road near the ice-cream shop. It is burgundy and pleated, like the netball skirt I never owned. Because it is burgundy, it makes my feel hip. It casts a faint glow over me and my laptop.

Photo frames (and accompanying photographs). I love photos. My desk is so full of frames there is barely any room for me to do constructive work (oh no). I love the happiness captured in a single millisecond, the accompanying memories, the heart and tummy tingles prompted by such reminisce. Photos have power to make me teary. I wish more people made real-life photo albums, and not just digital ones.

Listen to the radio

Winter was beautiful today.
The air sparkled with joyous clarity:
Everything was so bright and fresh.
Colours seem saturated: people brighter and the sky bolder
I wanted to breathe most
So much air, bursting like a flower into my being
Such weather breeds happiness and frivolity and $6.80 japanese hot lunch
Great life day
